Maternal Mental Health - Seejking Wellness
Speaker: Christy Leibowitz
Date / Time: Tuesday May 13th 10-12noon (talk will be 10:30-11:15)
Description: This session will explore the role of therapy in motherhood and how we can help support our mental wellbeing with practical tips as well as exploring what professional services are available.
Speaker Bio: Christy is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and intern therapist, who focuses on providing perinatal care. She is interning at Roots in Wellness; a collective of therapists providing in person support in Hamilton and virtual support across Ontario. Before becoming a therapist, Christy worked as a nanny, Registered Early Childhood Educator in the infant room of a childcare centre, and subsequently as a postpartum doula. Christy noticed many of her clients felt guilt, shame, self-doubt, and a deep inner critic. This led to a deep interest in perinatal mental health, which was further solidified by her personal experiences navigating fertility and in the early days of her own parenting journey. Christy has taken specialized training from Postpartum Support International. Christy is a mom to one little one and lives in Vaughan Ontario with her partner and child.
