January 13 Speaker: Claire Coltsman, Life Coach, Reach Coaching Looking to find more meaning or direction in your life? Not sure what to do next or how to get to that next level in your professional or personal life? Claire Coltsmann will speak to us on finding our focus and achieving those seemingly illusive goals. January 20 Speaker: MJ DeCoteau, Rethink Breast Cancer Rethink aims to bring a new approach and a positive style of communicating that women who are aware of their breasts are the best guardians of their own health. MJ will touch on detection, new advances in the area of breast cancer, how to be a successful support to people with breast cancer and how you can be your own "breastfriend". This is a session not to be missed! January 27 Speaker: Nicole Thorne, Tandem Studios Nicole Thorne is an experienced fitness instructor and owner of Tandem Studios - a unique approach to fitness. Parents sign up for various fitness classes while their children take dance. Nicole will be sharing the secrets of how to sculpt your post-baby body. February 3 Social -- Relax and chat with other moms over coffee and treats February 10 Speaker: Jason Palter, Mystivate Inc. As an international speaker and presenter, Mr. Palter incorporates magic and a unique style of humor into his presentations to grab the audience's attention and improve the retention of the message. Jason motivates executives, launches products, and entertains at corporate and community events. Jason was named Entertainer of the Year for 2007 by the Canadian Event Industry. February 17 Speaker: Mark Fabro, Lofty Perch Mark, an Internet security specialist, is a leader in creating programs to help parents and kids 'Stay Safe Online'. He will discuss cyber risks associated with the Internet and how you can protect yourself, your kids, your friends, and how to navigate the risks associated with instant messaging, identity theft, cyber bullying, and on-line stalking. February 24 Speaker: Julie Righter MD, CGP, CGPP, www.chronicillness.com Physician Psychotherapist, Dr. Julie Righter, will discuss the emotional needs of patients with chronic physical illness, and their family members, as well as new mom related emotional issues (ie, Post-Partum Depression), and aging parents. March 3 Speaker: Jackie Coulter, Coulter Clinic for Massage Therapy Jacquie Coulter, RMT, will be speaking to us on the benefits of massage for both our physical and emotional health. In addition to traditional massage, she will expand on the importance of infant massage and provide techniques for how to perform it at home. March 10 Social -- Relax and chat with other moms over coffee and treats March 17 Speaker: Kate Cole, Registered Dietitian Our own, Kate Cole, will be on hand to discuss healthy eating principles for you and family, including how to navigate the supermarket to help you become a smarter shopper. March 24 Speaker: Bracha Mirsky, What Makes Kids Tick Ms. Mirsky, a mother of twins and triplets, is a certified parent and infant consultant who offers parents practical advice through her website, columns and published works. Bracha will be giving M.O.M.S. a one -hour course in the fundamentals of understanding and shaping child behaviour. This is a must session to attend if you want to get to the bottom of why your child does the things they do (and maybe even how to get them to stop some of their oh-so "enduring" behaviours!). March 31 Speaker: Lisa Williams, Stylist As the mother of 2 boys with 10 years styling experience in film and TV and as a personal wardrobe stylist, Lisa will discuss what every mom needs in her wardrobe, the essentials and how to make them work. Lisa works regularly with TV networks including NBC, The Family Channel and The Movie Network. She will be answering all of your (anonymous) questions about marriage and relationships. April 28 Speaker: Karen Stintz Karen Stintz was elected Councillor for Ward 16 on November 10th 2003. She was recently re-elected to Toronto City Council on November 13th, 2006. Karen was born and raised in Toronto and is a proud resident of Ward 16. Karen, her husband Darryl, son Jackson and daughter Hailey have lived in the community for several years. They chose the area because of its reputation for having great schools and a strong sense of community." May 5 Speaker: Hank de Jong, Sheridan Nurseries Calling all green thumbs! Calling all black thumbs! Hank is here to help you plan your spring/summer garden. Whether you are a savvy pereenial gardner or a budding novice, Hank will help you to design and nurture your sprawling estate or quaint planter boxes. May 12 Speaker: Sarah Burchell, Early Literacy Our own Sarah Burchell, Literacy Coordinator for the Toronto District School Board, recently completed her Masters in Education from U of T (OISE). Parents are a child's first teacher - Sarah will speak to us on creating a home environment that promotes early literacy for young children. May 19 Speaker: Officer Wayne Peirce, Toronto Police Department Officer Wayne Peirce will be teaching us how to "street proof" our kids. With the summer months approaching and our children playing outdoors more often, this is a session that every mother will not want to miss. Officer Peirce will also be on hand to answer questions about the safety of our neighbourhood. May 26 Speaker: - Christine Kalogeras, Orange Therapy Reflexology is a holistic healing art, which naturally and without drugs, stimulates every part, gland, and organ in the body. Great for stressed out Moms, reflexology is an ideal way to alleviate sleep issues, depression and many other ailments. Christine, a certified reflexologist and clinical aromatherapist, will speak to us on the benefits of both reflexology and aromatherapy and provide some demos to some of our lucky members. June 2 Speaker: - Randi Myers Writer/Editor Randi Myers, known for her columns in Todays Parent and The Globe and Mail, runs workshops to teach mothers how to write about their personal stories and publish them. A fantastic skill to learn and a great way to share memories with your children! June 9 Speaker: Calia Hair Design Three of our own will receive a hair and make up transformation from the team at Calia. Come and see the incredible before and afters! Calia's hair styling team takes great pride in servicing their community and is very involved in local community groups and charity events. June 16 Speaker: Brenda Jasmin, Mothers on Fire "Do you love being a mom? We will be having a few socials and playdates over the summer so look for email notifications.
